Market Chatter: US Airlines Cut More Flights as Deep Freeze Disruptions Linger

US airline firms, including American Airlines Group (AAL) and Delta Air Lines (DAL), are continuing to scale back flights as extreme winter weather hampers the recovery of operations at major US hubs, Bloomberg reported Tuesday.

Delta told Bloomberg that unfavorable weather in the Northeast is affecting service at its hubs in Boston and New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport.

American canceled about 500 mainline and regional flights on Tuesday, the report said, citing FlightAware.

American told Bloomberg that the storm's impact was worsened by limited infrastructure in some affected cities, leading to staffing challenges as employees struggled to travel safely.

The report said the cost of the disruptions is likely to be a focus for investors.

American Airlines Group and Delta Air Lines did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
