- U.S. President Donald Trump's advisers have been told that he is expected to nominate Kevin Warsh, a central bank insider-turned-critic, as Federal Reserve chair.

- President Trump sued the Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department Thursday, alleging the agencies didn’t do enough to prevent an IRS contractor from leaking his tax returns to the press in 2019.

- President Trump said the U.S. was decertifying Bombardier Global Express business jets and threatened 50% import tariffs on all aircraft made in Canada until the country's regulator certified a number of planes produced by U.S. rival Gulfstream.

- The Supreme Court of Panama has annulled a contract for a Hong Kong company to operate two ports at either end of the Panama Canal breach the country's constitution, handing President Trump a victory for his security ambitions in the Western Hemisphere and denting China’s influence in the region.

- The London Metal Exchange delayed the start of trading on Friday due to technical issues, temporarily stifling activity as commodities markets experience one of their wildest weeks.
