American Express plans to raise its quarterly dividend by about 16%, to 95 cents from 82 cents, starting with its first-quarter declaration.
The new payout, equal to $3.80 a year, would represent an annual yield of about 1.06% based on Thursday's closing price of $358.50, up from about 0.91%.
The New York credit-card giant last year raised its quarterly payout by 17%.
