Hong Kong's restaurant sector saw a marginal increase in activity during the fourth quarter of 2025, according to provisional data from the Census and Statistics Department released Tuesday.

The value of total restaurant receipts was estimated at HK$27.8 billion, rising by 0.9% year on year.

After adjusting for price changes, the volume of total restaurant receipts was virtually unchanged from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the value of restaurant purchases rose 2.5% to HK$9.1 billion.

A government spokesman said officials expect Hong Kong's restaurant businesses to be buoyed by improving local consumption sentiment, a rise in tourism, as well as increase in employment earnings.
