Universal Music Group's longtime chief executive of its catalog division will become its chair.

Bruce Resnikoff, who founded the catalog division Universal Music Enterprises, has been promoted to chair and will be succeeded by Jamie Krents, the music entertainment conglomerate said Tuesday.

Krents will take on the role of Universal Music Enterprises chief executive in addition to his current position as chief executive of UMG's Verve Label Group.

Krents became CEO of Verve in 2024. In his additional role, he will accelerate the development of campaigns to further amplify UMG's artists and recordings.

Resnikoff has worked at UMG for more than 40 years. In his new role as chair, he will focus on expanding the catalog division's activities including estate management, acquiring names and likenesses, recorded music and audiovisual rights of artists and catalogs.

Resnikoff founded Universal Music Enterprises in 1998 after the merger of Universal and PolyGram. He created a framework for the catalog business that has been adopted across the music industry.
