ASX Says Total New Capital Quoted Declines in January on Annual Basis

ASX (ASX:ASX) said that total new capital quoted in January was AU$1.7 billion, compared to AU$2.3 billion a year ago and the total quoted market capitalization of entities de-listed was AU$300 million, compared to AU$1 billion a year ago, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The average daily number of trades in January was up 71% from last year and the average daily value traded on-market of AU$6.91 billion was up 51% from last year.

Volatility, as measured by the average daily movement in the all ordinaries index, was 0.4% in January, compared to 0.5% a year ago and future volatility, as measured by the S&P/ASX 200 VIX, in January was an average of 10.4, down 5% from last year.

Single stock options average daily contracts traded in January were down 2% and index options average daily contracts traded were up 7% from the same time last year.

The company's shares were up almost 1% in recent Thursday trade
