Western Gold Resources (ASX:WGR) executed letters of award with SSH Mining Australia, a unit of SSH Group (ASX:SSH), to start pre-mining works at the Gold Duke project in Western Australia, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.

The works include clearing and grubbing, initial delineation and construction of haul road alignments, and establishment of site access, laydown areas at the project, the filing said.

Shares of the company rose 11% in recent Monday trade.
