Tech stocks were higher Friday afternoon, with the State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) rising 0.9% and the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF (XSD) adding 1.4%.

The Philadelphia Semiconductor index climbed 1.2%.

In corporate news, Applied Materials (AMAT) shares jumped 9% after the semiconductor equipment maker issued an upbeat fiscal Q2 outlook at the midpoint and reported better-than-expected results for the prior three-month period.

Arista Networks (ANET) shares gained 6% after it reported overnight Q4 earnings and sales growth above market expectations.

Iren (IREN) shares climbed past 6% after the firm said late Thursday it will join the MSCI USA Index, effective after market close on Feb. 27.
