Ericsson (ERIC), along with defense company Leonardo and the Italian Navy, completed a 5G Standalone trial at sea, the Swedish telecoms equipment maker said Monday.

Ericsson said the exercise connected two naval ships in day and night training conditions, transmitting classified and unclassified data in real time, using the company's 5G Standalone system.
