Sector Update: Consumer Stocks Mixed Late Afternoon

Consumer stocks were mixed late Monday afternoon, with the State Street Consumer Staples Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLP) rising 1.3% and the State Street Consumer Discretionary Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLY) falling 2.3%.

In corporate news, airlines canceled thousands of US flights on Monday as heavy snow and strong winds disrupted air travel, particularly in the northeastern region. Some 5,651 flights within, into or out of the US were canceled, according to flight tracking website FlightAware.com. JetBlue Airways (JBLU) shares were down 2.3%, Delta Air Lines (DAL) shed 3.6%, United Airlines (UAL) fell 5%, Southwest Airlines (LUV) decreased 2% and American Airlines (AAL) dropped 4.4%.

Domino's Pizza (DPZ) reported Q4 revenue above market estimates on Monday as same-store sales in the US accelerated year over year, while the pizza restaurant chain expects to continue growing market share in the country. Its shares gained 3.8%.

Freshpet's (FRPT) Q4 earnings topped market estimates Monday, while the pet food company expects sales in 2026 to be higher year over year. The shares climbed over 5%.

Paramount Skydance (PSKY) is expected to submit a higher bid for Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) by a Monday deadline as it seeks to outbid Netflix (NFLX), Variety reported. Paramount shares were down 1.8%.
