Salesforce Stock Won't Rebound Anytime Soon, Analyst Says -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
02/26

Salesforce's earnings beat wasn't enough to excite investors, says Rebecca Wettemann, CEO of the analyst firm Valoir. Against a backdrop of AI supplanting software, Salesforce needs to show it can continually translate early AI traction into broader adoption and growth, Wettemann says. "Just beating expectations doesn't move the needle like it used to," Wettemann says. "Investors are demanding more certainty around medium-term acceleration." Wettemann thinks Salesforce's $50 billion stock buyback also shows that the company expects mixed investor reactions will continue to impact the stock's value for quarters to come. Shares fall 5% after hours. (katherine.hamilton@wsj.com)
