Lindian Resources (ASX:LIN) said the Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organization (ANSTO) tested monazite concentrate from the Kangankunde rare earths project in Malawi and confirmed that the concentrate would not be classified as radioactive for transport under the International Atomic Energy Agency transport framework, according to a Thursday Australian bourse filing.

The representative samples are also exempt from the requirements of Class 7 radioactive dangerous goods controls under the Regulations for the Safe Transport of Radioactive Material.

ANSTO reported activity concentrations for the two representative concentrate samples as uranium-238 of 0.74 becquerel per gram and 0.50 becquerel per gram, as well as thorium-232 of 3 becquerel per gram and 2.7 becquerel per gram.

Its shares rose 2% in recent trading on Thursday, reaching a 13-year peak.
