Shares of Relmada Therapeutics jumped after the company said its treatment for non-muscle invasive bladder cancer performed well in a recent trial and would be advanced to late-stage testing.

The stock climbed 51%, to $6.70, in premarket trading Monday.

The biotechnology company said before the bell that its treatment, NDV-01, demonstrated a 12-month complete response rate of 76% during a recent mid-stage study, with a favorable safety profile.

"These 12-month data show the potential durability of NDV-01's clinical response profile," said Raj Pruthi, chief medical officer of oncology.

He added that the interim results provide "meaningful clinical validation of the program" and support the treatment's advancement into a late-stage study.

Relmada separately said Monday it has entered a securities purchase agreement for private investment in public equity financing, expected to result in gross proceeds of about $160 million.

The PIPE financing included participation several firms, including Venrock Healthcare Capital Partners, Commodore Capital and Janus Henderson Investors.
