1732 ET - Vail Resorts says its advance-commitment model, which encourages people to buy its flagship pass ahead of the coming ski season, helped to mitigate challenges from historically low snowfall at its resorts in Colorado and Utah. "We are pleased with the strength and stability shown by our operating model," CEO Rob Katz said. "We reported only modest declines in lift revenue in what many would consider a worst-case weather scenario." Through March 1, season-to-date lift revenue at Vail's North American resorts fell 3.6%, while total skier visits fell 12%, compared to the prior-year period.(kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
