European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Edge Lower in Wednesday Trading

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts edged lower late Wednesday morning, declining 0.12% to 1,758.23 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by biotech firm BioNTech (BNTX) and petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR), which advanced 8% and 2.4%, respectively. They were followed by internet browser company Opera (OPRA) and telecommunications company Ericsson (ERIC), which were up 1.5% and 1.2%.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by biopharmaceutical companies DBV Technologies (DBVT) and Grifols (GRFS), which fell 4.5% and 2% respectively. They were followed by consumer goods company Unilever (UL) and software firm SAP (SAP), which dropped 1.6% and 1.5%.

From the UK and Ireland, the gainers were led by software company Endava (DAVA) and oil and gas company BP (BP), which rose 2% and 1.9% respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company Shell (SHEL) and communications company WPP (WPP), which increased 1.3% and 1.1%

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX) and biotech firm Autolus Therapeutics (AUTL), which dropped 4.1% and 2.2% respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company NuCana (NCNA) and cruise line operator Carnival (CUK), which lost 1.8% and 1.2%.
