Alphabet-owned Google (GOOG, GOOGL) investment arm Google Ventures participated in a $189.9 million combined seed and Series A funding round for artificial intelligence cybersecurity firm Armadin, Armadin said Tuesday.

The financing was led by Accel with additional backing from Kleiner Perkins, Menlo Ventures, In-Q-Tel, 8VC, and Ballistic Ventures, the company said.

The cybersecurity startup said it is building a platform that uses specialized AI agents to simulate advanced cyberattacks and identify network vulnerabilities.

The firm is led by Kevin Mandia, who previously sold his former cybersecurity business Mandiant to Google for $5.4 billion in 2022, and launched the new venture to actively participate in the cybersecurity industry's transition toward AI, CNBC's Tuesday report quoted Mandia as saying.
