11:52 ET -- Costco is one of few companies somewhat insulated from a surge in oil prices, Mizuho analyst David Bellinger writes in a note, citing a meeting with company leadership. While higher prices tend to dent consumer spending in general, Costco could see more fuel traffic as its discounted gas undercuts local competitors, the analyst says. A boost in demand for cheaper gas could even drive new member sign-ups, Bellinger says. Around half of the members who fill their tanks at Costco also shop in the warehouse, he adds. Costco shares are up about 0.3%.(amira.mckee@wsj.com)
