Quantgroup (HKG:2685) said Xu Dong had been appointed chief scientist of the company, according to a Hong Kong bourse filing Friday.

Shares of the e-commerce platform operator fell over 3% in morning trade Monday.

Xu is currently a professor at the School of Computing and Data Science at The University of Hong Kong, the firm said.

In his role, he will be responsible for providing technical consulting and leading project development at the company.
