Halliburton (HAL) said Monday it was able to achieve the first fully automated geological well placement with complete rig automation in offshore Guyana, in collaboration with Exxon Mobil (XOM) and other partners.
The project's reservoir section finished around 15% ahead of plan, and tripping operations cut time by about 33%, Halliburton said.
The project blended rig automation, automated subsurface interpretation and well placement, as well as real-time hydraulics, the company said.
