Nokia (NOK) introduced Aurelis, a new fiber-based system that gives data-center operators a dedicated way to monitor and manage servers even when their main network is down.

The approach uses less equipment and power than traditional systems, helping reduce space and operating costs, the company said Monday in a statement.
