Bandai Namco (TYO:7832) is experiencing sharp sales growth from its "Mobile Suit Gundam" intellectual property, bringing it close to its 300 billion yen sales target for the franchise, Nikkei Asia reported on Thursday, citing CFO Takashi Tsuji.
Tsuji revealed that the video game company's Gundam IP sales are projected to jump roughly 60% year-on-year to 240 billion yen in the current fiscal year ending this month, the publication said.
The company aims to further boost the brand's profile abroad, particularly in Europe and the U.S., to drive continued growth, the news daily said.
Key to this international expansion strategy are new animated productions and a Hollywood live-action adaptation of the iconic robot series, the report added.
