Barton Gold Holdings (ASX:BGD) said pit optimization drilling at its Challenger gold project in South Australia started, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.

The program of around 1,490 meters of diamond drilling will generate geotechnical data and sample materials for metallurgical testwork to support optimization of open-pit designs and operations. Foraco Drilling was engaged for the program.

Around 8,000 meters of reverse circulation drilling is underway at the Challenger Main and Challenger West open pits.
