Shares of power producers rose ahead of the Federal Reserve meeting.
The Fed is likely to stay pat on interest rates but officials could make changes to the "dot plot" predictions of future rate policy, said J.D. Joyce, president of Houston financial advisory Joyce Wealth Management.
"There was a debate earlier in the year, whether we'd have two or three cuts of 25 basis points. I'm assuming, when we see the latest [dot plot], it will be closer to zero or one as far as this calendar year is concerned."
