European Equities Traded in the US as American Depositary Receipts Climb in Monday Trading

European equities traded in the US as American depositary receipts were tracking sharply higher late Monday morning, rising 2.55% to 1,721.67 on the S&P Europe Select ADR Index.

From continental Europe, the gainers were led by lenders Banco Santander (SAN) and Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), which rose 7% and 5.1%, respectively. They were followed by biopharmaceutical company DBV Technologies (DBVT) and internet advertising firm Criteo (CRTO), which were up 2.8% and 2.7%, respectively.

The decliners from continental Europe were led by petroleum refiner Equinor (EQNR) and medical device maker EDAP TMS (EDAP), which fell 5.5% and 1.9%, respectively. They were followed by oil and gas company Eni (E) and pharmaceutical company Ascendis Pharma (ASND), which were down 1.4% and 0.3%, respectively.

The gainers from the UK were led by cruise line operator Carnival (CUK) and biopharmaceutical company Biodexa Pharmaceuticals (BDRX), which advanced 8.1% and 7.6%, respectively. They were followed by mining company BHP Group (BHP) and lender HSBC (HSBC), which increased 4.9% and 4.8%, respectively.

The decliners from the UK and Ireland were led by pharmaceutical company Silence Therapeutics (SLN), which dropped 5.9%, followed by oil and gas company BP (BP) and biopharmaceutical company Bicycle Therapeutics (BCYC), which lost 2.5% and 0.3%, respectively.
