Brazilian Rare Earths (ASX:BRE) secured a trial mining license from Brazil's National Mining Agency for the Monte Alto rare earths and critical minerals project, according to a Wednesday Australian bourse filing.
The license authorizes the extraction of up to 2,000 tonnes per annum of product from Monte Alto, allowing the firm to produce representative bulk shipments for potential customers and strategic partners.
The firm added that its next permitting milestone will be the submission of an economic development plan to the agency in the June quarter. Trial mining at the project will support the commissioning and operation of its pilot plant at the Camaçari Petrochemical Complex, slated to start operations in the September quarter.
