American Resources (AREC) said Tuesday that its minority-held portfolio company ReElement Technologies secured a strategic investment and collaboration agreement with Mitsubishi Materials, the company said Tuesday.

The partnership aims to scale the refining of rare earth and critical minerals to bolster supply chain resilience for the US and its allies, the company said.

In the US, the collaboration will focus on expanding ReElement's refining capacity through feedstock sourcing and offtake opportunities, while in Japan the companies will work to commercialize recycling solutions by pairing Mitsubishi Materials' recycling infrastructure with ReElement's proprietary chromatographic refining platform, the company said.
