Hormuz Blockage Unlikely to Be a Quick Fix, DBS Chief Economist Says -- Market Talk

0054 GMT - Granting more ships safe passage via the Strait of Hormuz isn't necessarily the fix some might be hoping it is, says DBS chief economist Taimur Baig. Iran is granting more vessels passage, and some stuff is going through, but Baig says the flow of goods is lower-frequency. "Even if there is safe passage for the Indias and Singapores of the world, it would be at a much slower pace, and there's always a chance of something going wrong. So I'm not entirely sure that resolves things," he says. Transiting the waterway continues to look like a high-risk endeavor, and the inflationary impact of the slower traffic via the strait seems inevitable. (fabiana.negrinochoa@wsj.com)
