Major Chinese airline companies, such as Air China (HKG:0753, SHA:601111) and China Southern Airlines (SHA:600029, HKG:1055), plan to raise fuel surcharges starting April 5, Xinhua reported Wednesday.

The fuel surcharge will increase to 60 yuan from 10 yuan for routes of 800 kilometers or less. For routes over 800 kilometers, the fuel surcharge will rise to 120 yuan from 20 yuan, the report said.

Tickets on domestic routes bought and sold on or before April 4 will not be affected by the price change on April 5, the report said.
