Air New Zealand Updates May-June Schedule Amid High Jet Fuel Costs

Air New Zealand (NZE:AIR, ASX:AIZ) said it will make minor adjustments to about 4% of its May and June flights due to rising jet fuel costs, affecting only around 1% of passengers, with most still able to travel on their original day, according to a Tuesday statement from the airline.

The airline said that affected customers will be notified starting Tuesday, with all notifications completed by the end of the week, and that the changes are minor compared with some New Zealand airlines, which have cut capacity by over 10%.

The airline noted that it is facing jet fuel prices more than double the usual level, resulting in higher industry costs and prompting further increases in some airfares.

The company's Kiwi shares rose around 6% in recent Tuesday trade, while its Australia shares soared past 4%.
