Ahead of high-stakes talks between the U.S. and Iran in Islamabad, Pakistan authorities are stepping up security measures amid a rare influx of journalists.

A Wall Street Journal reporter was assigned his own full security detail as he walked from passport control to take a taxi to his hotel.

The retinue included two SWAT teams toting assault rifles and flak jackets and another documenting the whole scene on a smartphone. As the taxi left the airport, he was preceded by the same armed police at the back of a pick-up truck.

Iranian officials have expressed concerns that their delegates, who arrived late Friday, could be targeted. Pakistan has been rattled in recent years by terrorist attacks perpetrated by radical Islamists.
