Webtoon Announces New Leadership Structure

Webtoon Entertainment said it was adopting a new global leadership structure and will streamline its operating structure, shifting from regional to integrated global leadership.

President Yongsoo Kim will consolidate global operations, the company said. He joined the company in 2023, and since 2024 has served as head of Global Webtoon, overseeing businesses for North America, Latin America, Southeast Asia and Europe.

David Lee, the company's chief financial officer and chief operating officer, will continue as CFO as the company eliminates the COO position. Lee will also assume the role of president of story platform Wattpad. Lee was founder and chief executive of Inevitable Tech, and previously served as COO and CFO of Impossible Foods, as well as public company CFO for Zynga.

Among other changes, Yuki Chae has been elevated to chief product officer, and Leah Goeun Yeon was named the company's first chief business officer, Webtoon said. In addition, Teo Taeyeong Jang has been named head of AI, and Sean Shinhyung Kim will take over leadership of the IP business.

Lee, as global CFO, will continue to report to Chief Executive Junkoo Kim, the company said.

Webtoon also said it eliminated the role of chief technology officer.

The entertainment company is home to a number of storytelling platforms.
