Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSM) reported Q1 earnings Thursday of 22.08 New Taiwan dollars ($0.70) per diluted share, up from NT$13.94 a year earlier.
Analysts polled by FactSet expected NT$20.92.
Net revenue for the quarter ended March 31 was NT$1.134 trillion, up from NT$839.25 billion a year earlier.
Analysts surveyed by FactSet expected NT$1.121 trillion.
The chipmaker said it expects Q2 net revenue of $39 billion to $40.2 billion. Analysts polled by FactSet expect $38.09 billion.
Shares of the company were up 1.2% in premarket trade.
