The Container Store said it will launch a chainwide reset as it prepares to introduce Bed Bath & Beyond merchandise across its fleet.

The storage-and-organization retailer said 98 stores nationwide will begin resetting selling floors on Friday. Roughly 30% of select categories and stock-keeping units will be liquidated as part of the reset in order to streamline assortments and create room for new products.

"This is a reset with purpose," said Jen Pape, senior vice president of stores. "By streamlining select categories today, we're creating the space and flexibility needed to introduce Bed Bath & Beyond products and deliver a more complete home experience for our customers."

The move comes after Bed Bath & Beyond earlier this month agreed to acquire The Container Store and its brands Elfa and Closet Works in a deal worth about $150 million, part of Bed Bath's strategy to broaden its home offerings and expand into services such as design and installation.

Stores will offer temporary price reductions during the reset period, The Container Store said.

Beginning next month, the stores will begin transitioning to a combined The Container Store and Bed Bath & Beyond format, which The Container Store said will represent its future operating model.
