ING Results Bode Well -- Market Talk

0809 GMT - ING Groep's first-quarter results bode well for its outlook for the full year, and a share buyback of 1 billion euros is in line with expectations, RBC Capital Markets' Anke Reingen and Sherry Lin say in a research note. The Dutch bank beat expectations with its first-quarter commercial net interest income and nudged up its full-year guidance for the metric, while costs remained under control, RBC says. This points to room for consensus expectations to go higher, the analysts say. ING raised its 2026 commercial net interest income guidance to 16.5 billion to 16.7 billion euros, up from 16.3 billion to 16.5 billion euros previously. However, its guidance for total income of 24 billion euros remains unchanged, which points to weaker expectations for other revenue sources, RBC says. Shares rise 1.8%. (adria.calatayud@wsj.com)
