U.S. Stocks to Watch: Palantir, Intel, AMD, ON Semi, Pinterest, Duolingo, and More

Dow Jones
05/05

Stock futures were rising Tuesday as investors shrugged off a flare-up of tensions in the Middle East.

These stocks were making moves in premarket trading:

Palantir slid 3% even as the data-wrangling software developer's first-quarter earnings topped Wall Street's expectations on all key metrics. Because it trades at such a lofty valuation, with the stock fetching 97 times expected earnings per share for the next 12 months, Palantir gets judged not on whether it beats expectations but how much it beats estimates.

Intel rose 4%. Apple has held talks about using Intel and Samsung Electronics to make the main processors for its devices in the U.S., Bloomberg reported, citing people familiar with the deliberations. Intel, Apple, and Samsung didn't respond to requests for comment from Barron's.

ON Semiconductor fell 3.4% after the chip maker narrowly beat analysts' targets for first-quarter earnings and issued solid guidance. Investors may have been taking the opportunity to lock in some profit, seeing as shares have jumped 88% so far in 2026.

Pinterest jumped 16% after the social-media platform reported better-than-expected first-quarter earnings and revenue and issued an upbeat outlook. Shares have fallen nearly 20% in 2026 but if the stock holds onto those gains it will have erased most of its losses for the year.

Duolingo slumped 9% after the language-learning app reported beat the Street's first-quarter earnings, revenue, and user number estimates. Duolingo is struggling to convince the market to back a plan to sacrifice near-term revenue growth to focus on adding to its user base.

Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA gained 7.2% after the brewer's first-quarter earnings beat expectations. Beer volumes rose for the maker of Bud Light, even as global alcohol consumption weakens.

Advanced Micro Devices climbed 2%. The chip maker is scheduled to report first-quarter earnings after the close of trading Tuesday. Analysts expect both revenue and earnings to rise by about a third from a year ago as the artificial intelligence investment boom drives up chip sales.

Aptiv, BioNTech, Cameco, Cummins, DuPont, Eaton, Ferrari, GlobalFoundries, Harley Davidson, Horizon Quantum, KKR, Marathon Petroleum, PayPal, Pfizer, Shopify, Arista Networks, Astera Labs, BigBear, Chemours, Electronic Arts, Emerson, Jacobs Solutions, Joby Aviation, Live Nation, Lucid, Lumen, Lumentum, Occidental Petroleum, Prudential, Skyworks, Strategy, Super Micro Computer, and Talos Energy are also scheduled to report earnings on Tuesday.
