Whirlpool Says Tariff Ruling Hurt 1Q Sales -- Market Talk

1737 ET - Whirlpool says the Supreme Court's decision to invalidate the Trump administration's emergency tariffs, and anticipated tariff refunds, hurt its sales in the latest quarter. However, the appliance maker says it should now benefit from U.S. trade policy going forward. Whirlpool says its first-quarter sales decline in North America was driven by lower volume as the tariff ruling disrupted pricing across the industry. "Now, with Section 232 changes in favor of domestic manufacturers, Whirlpool Corporation is structurally positioned to win with our American-made products," CEO Marc Bitzer says.
