Sezzle said a court allowed some of its claims against Shopify to proceed, including allegations over monopolization.

Digital-payments platform Sezzle said Tuesday the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota issued an Opinion and Order granting in part and denying in part Shopify's motion to dismiss Sezzle's antitrust action.

The court's move allowed some of Sezzle's claims--including those over monopolization, attempted monopolization and unlawful restraint of trade--to proceed. The court dismissed without prejudice Sezzle's unlawful tying claim and a corresponding portion of its state-law antitrust claim, the company said.

The case remains pending. The court's ruling is procedural and doesn't constitute finding liability against Shopify, Sezzle said.

Sezzle disclosed its antitrust lawsuit against Shopify last June. The lawsuit alleges Shopify's business practices stifle competition for "buy now, pay later" service options on its e-commerce platform, and seeks an injunction to prevent Shopify from continuing anticompetitive conduct.
