United Microelectronics (UMC) has launched its 14nm FinFET technology platform for display driver ICs, the semiconductor foundry company said Thursday.

The new platform enhances power efficiency and performance, while also lowering chip size, the company said.

United Microelectronics said the new 14nm platform also optimizes electrical performance through I/O devices and increased drive speeds.

Shares of the company were up 9% in recent Thursday premarket activity.
