Stratos Wealth Holdings has completed the acquisition of 10 investment advisory practices on its platform that oversee about $4.8 billion in client assets, the firm said on Thursday. The teams range in size from solo practices to multi-advisor teams, according to Stratos.

Nine of the teams are becoming W-2 employees through the transition, according to a company representative.

The acquisitions are the first that Stratos has announced since it sold a majority stake to SEI last year, though the deals were under discussion prior to that transaction. The newly acquired firms will either rebrand under the Stratos name or operate with it as a co-brand.

The 10 practices comprise 11 offices moving to the ownership model in which Stratos acquires the advisors' client relationships, business operations, and revenue streams. One of the practices, Stratos Private Wealth, maintains offices in Westchester, N.Y., and San Diego.

The other practices are:

-- Kowal Financial Services of Fairfax, Va.
-- Jamie Turk Holdings of Beachwood, Ohio
-- Veritas Boston of Rockland, Mass.
-- True North Wealth Partners of Dublin, Ohio
-- Spain & Smith Wealth Advisors of Pepper Pike, Ohio
-- Windsor Wealth Management of Gladwyne, Pa.
-- Pistone Wealth Advisors of Pepper Pike, Ohio
-- Marquis Wealth Group of Tucson, Ariz.
-- PTM Financial of Chula Vista, Calif.

The ownership model will more closely couple the practices to Stratos' advisor resources that aim to foster growth of its advisory businesses. The moves also position some of the practices to handle succession challenges as leaders approach retirement.

Stratos says that its ownership model offers advisors "a more structured and scalable approach to long-term growth and transition planning" that is increasingly in demand.

"Advisors today are navigating increasing complexity, from evolving client expectations to technology demands and long-term continuity planning," says Stratos founder and CEO Jeff Concepcion. "We believe the traditional succession model is evolving, and advisors are increasingly looking for strategic partners that can provide scale, resources, and flexibility without sacrificing leadership of their businesses."
