Sen. Lindsay Graham Slams Pentagon Over Iran: 'Everything Y'all Did Failed' -- WSJ

Sen. Lindsay Graham (R., S.C.) slammed senior Pentagon officials during a Tuesday appearance on Capitol Hill for failing to prevent Iran from building sophisticated military weapons.

While Graham characterized the U.S. military operations against Iran overall as "spectacular," he criticized Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and Gen. Dan Caine, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, for failing to prevent Iran from becoming a "nuclear-threshold nation" and developing missiles that can reach thousands of miles.

Iran has been building up its military capabilities for many years, including trying to enrich uranium up to levels necessary for a nuclear weapon, according to the Defense Intelligence Agency.

Graham noted that Iran had launched missiles at Diego Garcia, an Indian Ocean island that is home to a strategic U.K.-U.S. military base, traveling a distance of about 2,500 miles.

"Everything y'all did failed," Graham said. "You failed to stop Iran from being a nuclear-threshold nation. You failed to stop Iran from having missiles that could go thousands of miles. Why should we listen to you?"
