Digital Realty Trust (DLR) opened its first data center in Barcelona with 14 megawatts of planned capacity, the company said Monday.

The BCN1 data center is designed to support artificial intelligence, cloud computing and low-latency connectivity across the Americas, Europe, North Africa, Middle East, and Asia, the company said.

Digital Realty Trust said the new data center is connected to major subsea cable systems and cross-border fiber routes linking Barcelona with Marseille and Frankfurt.
