Stock futures were dropping Monday as investors continued to worry that a flare-up in inflation will lead the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates later this year.
These stocks were making moves in premarket trading:
Micron Technology gained 2.3% after a South Korean court partially approved rival memory chip maker Samsung Electronics' request for an injunction against a looming strike. Micron shares tumbled 6.2% on Friday as investors started to panic about higher interest rates, sparking a broad selloff in stocks and bonds.
Dominion Energy rallied 12% to $69.13 after reports said NextEra Energy was in talks to buy the electric utility. Dominion and NextEra didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from Barron's.
Delta Air Lines added 2.5% and Macy's rose 5.7%. Berkshire Hathaway initiated a $3 billion position in Delta and a $55 million position in Macy's over the first quarter, a 13-F report released after Friday's close of trading showed. New York Times climbed 1% after Berkshire tripled its stake in the media company.
UnitedHealth dropped 5.1% after Berkshire sold its holding in the health insurer. Berkshire also exited its positions in Mastercard, Liberty Latin America, Aon, Domino's Pizza, Pool, Liberty Formula One, Amazon.com, Heico, Lamar Advertising, and Charter Communications.
Baidu jumped 4% after the Chinese search-engine provider beat analysts' estimates for first-quarter adjusted net income as the company's core artifcial-intelligence-powered business accounted for more than half its total revenue for the first time.
LiveRamp rose 26% to $37.40. French advertising company Publicis reached a deal to acquire the data specialist for a total enterprise value of $2.2 billion.
Bio-Rad Laboratories advanced 4.5%. Activist Elliott Investment Management has built a sizable stake in the life-science tools supplier, The Wall Street Journal reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the matter. Bio-Rad and Elliott didn't immediately respond to requests for comment from Barron's.
Agilysys and XP Inc. are set to report earnings after the closing bell Monday.
