Amazon.com (AMZN)-backed Anthropic said Tuesday it has acquired Stainless, a startup known for SDK and MCP server tooling that helps developers connect applications and AI agents to APIs.
Stainless generates SDKs, command-line tools and connectors across languages, including Python, Java, Go and TypeScript. The company has powered every official Anthropic SDK since the launch of the Claude API, it added.
Anthropic said the deal will strengthen Claude's ability to connect with external tools and data as the AI industry shifts toward autonomous agents capable of taking actions instead of only answering questions.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. However, an earlier report by The Information revealed the deal was valued at least $300 million.
