1454 ET - Kroger CEO Greg Foran's plans to cut prices on thousands of products, as detailed in an interview with Bloomberg, should narrow the company's pricing gaps with Walmart, according to Bank of America analyst Robert Ohmes in a note. A recent BofA study found that Kroger's price gap versus Walmart has fallen from 14% in 2025 to 10% in 2026. Foran's pricing plans could narrow that spread even further, Ohmes writes. "Pricing architecture should improve from broad-based price investments across categories and simplified promotions, helping consumers with affordability concerns if macroeconomic challenges persist," he writes, adding that the company could benefit compared to peers from further inflation in grocery pricing. Kroger is unlikely to ultimately offer prices below Walmart's, Ohmes adds.(elias.schisgall@wsj.com)
