NextEra Energy (NEE) agreed to acquire Caliber Resource Partners for $1.3 billion while setting up a joint venture with Caliber's private equity backer, Quantum Capital, to manage shale assets, Reuters reported late Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The acquisition gives NextEra more access to US natural gas supplies and follows its $67 billion deal to merge with Dominion Energy (D), the report said.
NextEra and Quantum did not immediately reply to MT Newswires' requests for comment.
