Manchester United raised its full-year guidance and said it was seeing benefits from operating-cost and headcount-reduction programs and from the team's improved performance in the Premier League.

The club now expects fiscal-year revenue of GBP655 million (US$881.2 million) to GBP665 million, up from its previous forecast of GBP640 million to GBP660 million. It also raised its fiscal-year guidance for adjusted earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization to between GBP200 million and GBP210 million, up from its prior outlook of GBP180 million to GBP200 million.

For the fiscal third quarter, the company posted a loss of GBP11.8 million, compared with a loss of GBP2.7 million the year before.

Revenue rose 18% to GBP189.5 million, boosted by 57% growth in broadcasting revenue and a 10% increase in commercial revenue.

The Manchester United men's team finished third in the Premier League, qualifying it for next season's Champions League.

Shares were up 4.2% to $20.55 in premarket trading.
