(XPeng's net loss likely widened in the first quarter. "XPeng's First-Quarter Net Loss Likely Narrowed -- Earnings Preview," at 0625 GMT on May 27, incorrectly said XPeng's net loss likely narrowed in the headline. It also misstated the projected first-quarter net loss and the year-earlier figures for XPeng's net loss and revenue. The correct version follows.)

XPeng is scheduled to report results for the first quarter on Thursday. Here's what you need to know:

NET LOSS: The Chinese electric-vehicle maker is projected to post first-quarter net loss of 811.9 million yuan, equivalent to about $120 million, according to a poll of analysts by Visible Alpha, compared with net loss of 664.0 million yuan a year earlier.

REVENUE: XPeng's first-quarter revenue is forecast to be 13.55 billion yuan, according to Visible Alpha, down from 15.81 billion yuan in the year-earlier period.

XPeng's Hong Kong-listed shares fell 18% in the first quarter, weighed by sectorwide slowing demand in China's auto market.

WHAT TO WATCH:

--2Q GUIDANCE: XPeng typically releases its second-quarter revenue and sales volume guidance with first-quarter results. Although the company is known for its ambitious physical AI plan, investors and analysts remain unsure about the company's sales volume growth this year, said Macquarie analysts in a recent note. Investors will watch for second-quarter guidance to examine its sales momentum.

--MARGINS: Investors will be looking to the company's margin to examine its profitability. XPeng launched its six-seater luxury SUV GX last week, which could meaningfully lift both gross profit margin and average selling price going forward, Jefferies analysts wrote in a recent note.

--AI, ROBOTAXIS: Investors will watch for progress in XPeng's robotaxis and AI efforts and how much investment the company has put in those areas. XPeng said earlier this month that it rolled out its first mass-produced robotaxi in Guangzhou, China.
