Bombardier, CAE, MDA Seen as Winners in Canada's GlobalEye Plan -- Market Talk

1213 ET - Canada's selection of Saab's GlobalEye for its Airborne Early Warning and Control program is a "big positive" for several Canadian defence names, with Bombardier the clear winner. Scotiabank's Konark Gupta notes that GlobalEye is built on Bombardier's Global 6500 jet, and Canada not only plans to buy the aircraft but also to assemble and export a portion of the fleet domestically, a move Gupta says provides "strong evidence" of Ottawa's new Defence Industrial Strategy. He estimates that building about 40 aircraft in Canada over 15 years could generate $2.7 billion to $4 billion in revenue for Bombardier. Gupta also sees CAE benefiting from new teaming agreement with Saab, while MDA Space also benefit from expanded defence-industrial activity. (adriano.marchese@wsj.com)
