Champion Iron Dividend Cut Disappoints -- Market Talk

Dow Jones
05/29

0259 GMT - Champion Iron's final dividend disappoints Jarden, which says the miner's explanation for its weaker payout "does not inspire." Champion Iron cut its final dividend to C$0.02/share and revised its dividend policy, citing an aim to protect the balance sheet in periods of softer profitability. Jarden expected C$0.10 per share, in line with the company's semiannual payouts over the past four years. The bank downgrades the stock to neutral from overweight, citing deteriorating business conditions. It cuts its target to A$5.00 from A$5.50. Shares are down 5.9% at A$4.50.
