CGI has agreed to take over Telia's cloud, capacity and IT end-user services in Finland in a deal that will also transfer about 250 Telia employees to the IT consulting firm.
The Canadian company said Monday that the deal is part of a new strategic partnership with the Swedish technology company under which CGI will provide scalable, secure cloud-based services to support Telia's operations, while Telia will supply CGI with data-center infrastructure and network services.
CGI said that the move strengthens its role in the Nordic region as it looks to offer clients more services there.
Additionally, nearly 250 Telia employees will join CGI to support the development and delivery of these services, CGI said.
Telia Cygate's Chief Executive Matti Eloholma said the move reflects the company's priority to find a partner to ensure continuity of its clients' business and create the conditions for leveraging new technologies.
The company didn't disclose any financial details of the deal.
